Néel proximity effect at antiferromagnet/superconductor interfaces

چکیده

Spin splitting induced in a conventional superconductor weakens superconductivity by destroying spin-singlet and creating spin-triplet Cooper pairs. We demonstrate theoretically that such an effect is also caused adjacent compensated antiferromagnet, which yields no net spin splitting. find the antiferromagnet produces N\'eel triplet pairs, whose pairing amplitude oscillates rapidly space similar to antiferromagnet's spin. The emergence of these unconventional pairs reduces singlet pairs' amplitude, thereby lowering superconducting critical temperature. develop quasiclassical Green's functions description system employing two-sublattice framework. It successfully captures rapid oscillations at lattice spacing scale as well their smooth variation on larger coherence length scale. Employing theoretical framework thus developed, we investigate this proximity superconductor/antiferromagnet bilayer function interfacial exchange, disorder, chemical potential, finding rich physics. Our findings offer insights into experiments have found than expected suppression antiferromagnet.

Magnetic proximity effects in antiferromagnet/ferromagnet bilayers: the impact on the Néel temperature.

We present a study of the ordering temperature of an ultrathin antiferromagnetic film in the proximity of a ferromagnetic layer. The Néel temperature of a single-crystalline antiferromagnetic FexMn1-x film on Cu(001) in contact with a ferromagnetic Ni layer was monitored by the discontinuity in the coercivity as a function of temperature by magneto-optical Kerr effect measurements. It decreases...

Coulomb blockade of proximity effect at large conductance.

We consider the proximity effect in a normal dot coupled to a bulk superconducting reservoir by the tunnel contact with large normal conductance. Coulomb interaction in the dot suppresses the proximity minigap induced in the normal part of the system. We find exact expressions for the thermodynamic and tunneling minigaps as functions of the junction's capacitance. The tunneling minigap interpol...

Superconducting proximity effect in a diffusive ferromagnet with spin-active interfaces

We reconsider the problem of the superconducting proximity effect in a diffusive ferromagnet bounded by tunneling interfaces, using spin-dependent boundary conditions. This introduces for each interface a phaseshifting conductance G which results from the spin dependence of the phase shifts acquired by electrons upon scattering on the interface. We show that G strongly affects the density of st...

The superconducting proximity effect as a tool to investigate metal films and interfaces

The superconducting proximity effect is measured in sandwiches of thin Pb films and the alkali metals Cs, Rb, K and Na. The Tc-dependence provides information about the interface barriers between Pb and the alkalis. Such a barrier is particularly large in Pb/Cs sandwiches. It is not due to impurities or oxydation. In the presence of a sufficiently strong barrier a special form of the Cooper lim...

Bulk Topological Proximity Effect.

Existing proximity effects stem from systems with a local order parameter, such as a local magnetic moment or a local superconducting pairing amplitude. Here, we demonstrate that despite lacking a local order parameter, topological phases also may give rise to a proximity effect of a distinctively inverted nature. We focus on a general construction in which a topological phase is extensively co...
